History – Padma Mahal Jharkhand
The history of Padma Mahal is linked to that of Badam Fort. Badam i.e. Karanpura state was founded by two brothers named Bagh Dev and Singh Dev. Both these brothers used to work with and for the Nagavansh rulers but once they had a rift with the king, they left the Nagavansh rulers and established their own kingdom. Badam Fort was built by the sixth king of the same series, Hemant Narayan Singh. Raja Hemant Narayan Singh ruled from 1604 to 1661.
The last king to live in Badam Fort was Dalel Singh. Fed up with the continuous attacks of the Mughals, he shifted his capital from Badam (Barkagaon) to Ramgarh/Padma. Padma was their last capital. His descendants who came before him had built this palace.
