History – Udaipur Tourist Places

In 1559, Rana Udai Singh established the city of Udaipur. It is said that at the place where the Tripolia Gate of the City Palace is located, Rana had hunted a rabbit and considered this place auspicious and buried a stone there. On the advice of Goswami Premgiri, who was meditating on a nearby hill, he decided to build his palace there.

The work of building Pichola Lake started in the year 1559 itself and the work of this lake was completed in 1562. Rana Udai Singh built his palace on the banks of this lake and in this way the foundation of the city of Udaipur was laid.
